Lucia

Saturday 5th December, 2.30pm at Wardie Church, Trinity, Edinburgh.

Come and join in a Swedish Christmas service with the minister Michael Persson from the Swedish Church in London. There will be a Lucia procession, Christmas carols and coffee with homebaking.  

If you are interested in taking part in the Lucia procession or just give a helping hand with the arrangements, please contact Helena.  

 

Children’s Corner

Sunday 29th November: JULPYSSEL

 

Come along and make Christmas decorations and “Baka Pepparkakor” with your children in a unique setting. This event is from 11am until 2pm, so please bring your own lunch. For further information and directions, click here.

28 December - Så som I himmelen (As in Heaven) - A tear jerker

 

25 January - Gynekologen i Askim (The gynecologist in Askim) - A comedy about sex and love in         a posh suburb south of Gothenburg.

 

22 February - Patrick 1.5 - Goran and Sven have been accepted as adoptive parents. The problem is that no country wants to give children to homosexual parents. Comedy.

 

29 March - Goodbye Falkenberg - Award winning film.

 

 

Svenskträff

A monthly informal evening for members and their friends on the last Thursday of the month.

A chance to speak some Swedish in a relaxed atmosphere.

 

26th November at Peter’s Yard, 27 Simpson Loan, Quarter Mile, Edinburgh.

Book Club

The Swedish Book Club is now up and running and meet regularly to discuss Swedish books.

Current titles are "Löwenskölsdska Ringen" by Selma Lagerlöf and "Där Nässlorna Blomma" by Harry Martinsson.

 

Due to its popularity, the Swedish Book Club is now full, but it has been decided to start a new group in the Autumn 2010. If you are interested in joining, please contact Helena to add your name to the waiting list. We are proposing a Swedish English Book Club as well, where translated Swedish books will be read and discussed in English, if you are interested please contact Helena.
